This was a style concept for work I did for Wahl clippers, it ultimately went in a different direction but I like how this turned out. It's for their Self Cut Pro model to be used as a self trimmer for your hair.

I worked with provided CAD models of different hair trimming products they make, which included the innermost parts so I built a shot to showcase the whole construction rather than just the outside. There was a good bit of retopologizing and clean up based on how the models imported, which seems to be pretty standard whenever I have dealt with these types of files.

This animation sequence is built using MoGraph Fracture objects for each of the components, which I feel like makes it easy to animate everything individually with their own specific Effectors or globally with one controlling all of you pieces. In my experience it cuts down on your keyframing, since everything is controlled via the Effector as a strength slider rather than on position, scale, and rotation values.

On the lights and materials side, it was all about just getting light on each component a key moments in the shot, and the materials feeling representative of what the product actually looked like.

I think it turned out pretty nice as a single shot, was tempting to do a whole spot built around this concept.
