This is my first animation done in Rive. I've been learning it in order to expand my skills in UI/UX and Interaction design.
I started with a simple idea or gag about clients just wanting to see their logo bigger. Typically I would have made a short loop in After Effects or Cinema 4D, it would have probably ran for about 6 seconds or something and that's the end of it.
But with Rive, you can add levels to it, and engage with the end user. I gave the user the opportunity in the interface to scale up the logo on their own. It's really cool to see a motion design exist on an infinite or indefinite timeline, it's not something I previously thought of so I'm coming up with new ideas how to take advantage of that. You can have fun designing a silly idle state like the sleepy cat here.
Also, I added a few Easter Eggs in there, just fun little moments that give the user something to look for. Rive makes it easy to tuck in layers and levels to the scene, rather than just playing the animation in a more forward or obvious way.
I have orange cats that like to hover around my desk, so it was easy synergy to include one. I drew most of this in Illustrator but kept tweaking in the Design mode inside Rive to get the final result.
